Gap Analysis on Open Data Interconnectivity for Disaster Risk Research

A study report of the CODATA Task Group on Linked Open Data for Global Disaster Risk Research was published recently by IRDR and ICSU CODATA.

This report consists of seven chapters as following:

  1. Open and Linkable: New Strategies of International Science Data Management
  2. Status of Open Data for disaster research
  3. Gaps and Challenges in Linking Open Disaster Data
  4. Scientific Issues behind Data Interconnectivity
  5. Cyberinfrastructure for disaster data interconnectivity
  6. Case Studies and Lessons learned on Linking Opened Data for Disaster Mitigation Around the World
  7. Conclusions and Recommendations

The authors wish to express their most sincere appreciation to colleagues in the broader academic community for their thoughtful comments and suggestions on the previous versions of this
paper. Special thanks to Drs. Philippe Bally and Theodra Papadopoulou from the European Space Agency, and Dr. Fang Chen from the Institute of Remote Sensing and Digital Earth (RADI) at
Chinese Academy of Sciences, for their thorough review of the paper and constructive suggestions; and to Dr. Simon Hodson, Executive Director of CODATA, for his guidance and support for the
activities of the LODGD Task Group and our outreach to the broader community.

This work was financially supported in part by ICSU/CODATA and the Institute of Remote Sensing and Digital Earth of CAS in China.
