ICSU ROLAC is looking for a Science Officer to be hired in June 2015

Reporting to the Regional Director, the Science Officer assists with the scoping, planning and implementation of ICSU’s initiatives. He or she liaises with the ICSU family and regional scientific organizations with the aim of establishing short-term and long-term collaborations. She or he presents activities proposals for receiving funding and reports the activities of the Office.

Applicants are requested to address the description and qualifications in a cover letter and attach curriculum vitae with the name, contact details and recommendation letters of three referees from the work field of the solicitant. Applications (preferably in one combined PDF file), should be sent via email with ‘Science Officer’ in the subject line to the ICSU ROLAC Communications Officer at angelica.bucio@icsu-latin-america-caribbean.org. This should be addressed to Prof. Manuel Limonta, Director ICSU ROLAC.

Interviews will be held the first two weeks of May.

Location: Mexico City, Mexico – Mexican Academy of Sciences.

Closing date: May 3rd, 2015.

Salary: 45,000 – 55,000 MXN net per month (before income tax – dependent on the experience and qualifications of the candidate).

Supported by IRDR in collaboration with the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) and the MAP-AQ programme, the three-week flagship program brought together nearly 80 participants from 16 countries, fostering a dynamic global learning community under the theme “Human Activity and Weather/Climate Extremes.”

UNESCO and IRDR co-organise this lumos at UTC 8:00 on 18 August, which will reflect the research and innovations from young generations with the topics including but not limited (1) vulnerability assessment of cultural heritages (tangible and intangible), (2) integrating traditional knowledge and advanced technologies for climate change adaption and disaster risk reduction, and (3) the role of culture in climate action through education, grassroots initiatives, and policy engagement.
