SC Member Djillali Benouar founding member of Algerian National Academy

Following a selection process that involved an international jury of 12 scientific personalities from various international scientific academies in the fields of science and technology, 46 national high-level scientists were selected from among 366 applications, to become founding members of the Algerian Academy of Science and Technology.

Professor Djillali Benouar has been officially named as member of the founding class of the newly established Algerian Academy of Sciences and Technology. Hi is director of Research at the Built Environment Research Laboratory at the faculty of Civil Engineering of the University of Science and Technology Houari at Bab Ezzouar in Algiers.

The Council of Ministers will be asked to approve a communication from the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research on a presidential decree approving the list. China had agreed to lend support to the new academy and to the evolving efforts to strengthen the higher education system in Algeria. Djillali Benouar’s home institutionsis a member of the IRDR ICoE REaL which is based on the PeriPeriU consortium.

IRDR commends the successful conclusion of Fudan University's second International Summer School on Climate Change and Related Risks. Supported by IRDR in collaboration with the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) and the MAP-AQ programme, the three-week flagship program brought together nearly 80 participants from 16 countries, fostering a dynamic global learning community under the theme “Human Activity and Weather/Climate Extremes.”

UNESCO and IRDR co-organise this lumos at UTC 8:00 on 18 August, which will reflect the research and innovations from young generations with the topics including but not limited (1) vulnerability assessment of cultural heritages (tangible and intangible), (2) integrating traditional knowledge and advanced technologies for climate change adaption and disaster risk reduction, and (3) the role of culture in climate action through education, grassroots initiatives, and policy engagement.
