Call for application: IRDR Young Scientists Programme (4th batch)

IRDR Young Scientists Programme started in late 2016. Currently, it is a community of 115 young researchers from over 40 countries for 3 batches.

IRDR has invited our young scientists to participate the research of IRDR DATA and RIA working groups, provided training programmes hosted by IRDR communities, and recommended the young scientists to attending the DRR meetings and conferences. For more details of the activities of IRDR young scientists, please refer to the homepage of IRDR Young Scientists Programme.

The 4th application of IRDR Young Scientists Programme now opens for application. Please refer to the introduction of IRDR Young Scientists Programme for the background and objectives of the programmes, and the eligibility, benefits and responsibilities of IRDR Young Scientists.

Postgraduates, PhD Candidates, Post-Doctors, and young faculties under 40 years old are welcome to join IRDR family!

The applicants should submit the following materials:

  1. Application Form( Young Scientists Programme Application Form)
  2. Detailed Curriculum Vitae
  3. Detailed Research Plan (10 pages Maximum)
  4. Recommendation/Endorsement Letter from the Supervisor/ the Chief of Affiliation
  5. Copy of Student/Faculty ID Card

Submission

The applicants should submit the materials to connect@irdrinternational.org before Dec 31, 2018.

There will be a selection process based on the eligibility criteria, and once finally selected by the selection committee of the programme, the applicant would get a notification.

IRDR proudly celebrates the successful conclusion of the 2025 Youth Climate Action and Disaster Risk Reduction Hackathon, held in Beijing under the theme “Empowering Youth for a Healthy Planet.” Co-organized with UNESCO, the Horizon Global Youth Development Program and other partners, the event brought together over 300 young innovators from 15 countries to co-develop solutions to urgent environmental challenges.

IRDR commends the successful conclusion of Fudan University's second International Summer School on Climate Change and Related Risks. Supported by IRDR in collaboration with the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) and the MAP-AQ programme, the three-week flagship program brought together nearly 80 participants from 16 countries, fostering a dynamic global learning community under the theme “Human Activity and Weather/Climate Extremes.”

UNESCO and IRDR co-organise this lumos at UTC 8:00 on 18 August, which will reflect the research and innovations from young generations with the topics including but not limited (1) vulnerability assessment of cultural heritages (tangible and intangible), (2) integrating traditional knowledge and advanced technologies for climate change adaption and disaster risk reduction, and (3) the role of culture in climate action through education, grassroots initiatives, and policy engagement.
