The Conference goal is to promote and support the availability and application of science and technology to disaster risk reduction decision-making for implementation of the Sendai Framework. The Expected Outcomes are to launch the UNISDR Science and Technology Partnership and Road Map to support the implementation of the Sendai Framework on Disaster Risk Reduction. Click on links above for terms of reference of the Partnership and the Road Map.  The conference programme brings together the science and technology community from all geographical regions and partnerships. Approximately 800 scientists, experts, policy makers, researchers and relevant practitioners are expected to attend.

The conference will have four interactive work streams:
Work Stream 1: The Science and Technology Partnership to support Sendai Framework implementation
Work Stream 2: Understanding disaster risk, risk assessment and early warning
Work Stream 3: Use of science, technology and innovation tools, methods and standards
Work Stream 4: Leveraging science through capacity development and research
Every work stream will have an introductory panel and will split into three working group sessions. For those that are unable to attend in person, the main plenary sessions will be webcast. See the conference site for details.

Practical information for the conference is available on the conference’s home page.The Conference is held at the International Conference Centre Geneva (CICG).   Distribution of badges will take place at the conference centre from 15:00 to 18:00 on Tuesday 26 January and from 8:30 to 16:00 on 27, 28 January, and 8:30 to 14:00 on 29 January. Participants are encouraged to pick up their badges at their earliest convenience to avoid delays. Note that valid national picture ID such as a passport will be required to pick up your badge.

The Republic of Korea will kindly host a light reception for the conference participants on behalf of MIKTA (a partnership between the Governments of Mexico, Indonesia, the Republic of Korea, Turkey and Australia) from 18:15-19:30 on Wed. 27 January at the main CICG conference venue.

The Priority Actions to Enhance Readiness for Resilient Recovery were officially launched at the World Resilient Recovery Conference (WRRC) on 3 June 2025. They are designed to take joined action to accelerate the implementation of Priority Action 4 of the Sendai Framework. IRDR experts participated in the Conference as the panelists.
