IRDR and CBAS jointly provide satellite data provides and service for disaster emergency response
26 June 2025

IRDR collaborates with International Research Center for Big Data for Sustainable Development (CBAS) provide satellite data products and services for emergency response, risk assessment and post-disaster reconstruction observation and assessment through an IRDR Pilot Study "Sustainable Development Scientific Satellite-1 (SDGSAT-1) for Disaster Risk Reduction and Global Emergency Response". It is expected that the study will summarize and optimize the methods of applying satellite data to disaster reduction research and practice.

The collaboration has resulted in several reports and open data for recent disaster events, which were endorsed and promoted by international organisations and platforms such as PreventionWeb, ReliefWeb, and AHA Center. Workshops and technical trainings were also organized to provide methodologies and share experiences.
