IRDR Young Scientists Recognized with Prestigious International Research Awards

Two members of the IRDR Young Scientists Programme, Dr. Rayees Ahmed (6th batch) and Dr. Gouvidé Jean Gbaguidi (5th batch), recently received prestigious international awards for their respective contributions. Alongside celebrating these achievements, the IRDR is now accepting applications for the 7th batch of the Young Scientists Programme, inviting early-career researchers worldwide to join its interdisciplinary network and advance risk-informed sustainable development.

The IRDR International Young Scientists Forum (IYSF) 2026 is a three-day international forum organized by IRDR and mainly hosted by IRDR IPO and IRDR ICoE Coherence. The forum brings early career researchers together to advance disaster risk science and its application to policy and practice in support of the Sendai Framework. Its outputs will assess the contribution of science to Sendai Framework implementation and generate forward-looking insights to inform the post-2030 disaster risk reduction agenda.

IRDR held its first 2026 ICoEs online meeting on 4 Feb, announcing the 2025 new ICoEs selection results, introducing its five dynamic work streams for Phase II, discussing post-2030 agenda participation, with all ICoEs committing to its 2025-2027 Action Plan for disaster risk reduction.
